Birmingham actor and writer Natasha Killip has been nominated for the Writer award at the 2026 Royal Television Society Midlands Awards for her debut comedy Kitty Clap Klub.

The RTS shortlist names Killip alongside James Graham for Dear England and Charlie Dennis for The Pigs Underneath. The awards ceremony takes place at the ICC in Birmingham on Wednesday 2 December.

Creating a role of her own

According to the production team, Killip began the project while out of acting work, deciding to write a role for herself. She also performs in and executive produced the independently made pilot.

The comedy follows staff trying to get through a disastrous Halloween shift at a struggling strip club.

Jack Richardson directed the pilot and Poppy Abbott produced it. The team says connections through Birmingham’s Reel Brum film community helped bring the production together.

The pilot screened at Mockingbird Cinema during Flatpack Festival on 9 May 2026, according to the release. The team is seeking a production partner to develop the project into a series.
