A Coventry restaurant is introducing service robotics as part of a new partnership with Midlands-based robotics company BodyBot.

AMMA Kitchen, on Beake Avenue in Coventry, has partnered with BodyBot to introduce a service robot into its restaurant, where the technology will support staff and add a new experience for customers.

The robot will be able to assist with tasks including transporting food and other items around the venue, while also interacting with customers and supporting the restaurant team during service.

BodyBot provides commercial service robots to UK businesses through a rental model that includes delivery, installation, configuration, staff training and ongoing support.

For us, this is about showing that robotics can have a practical role in everyday businesses. AMMA Kitchen is a great example. The robot isn't there to replace the people who make the restaurant what it is. It is there to support the team, take care of repetitive tasks and create something memorable for customers.

Claudiu Dinu, founder and director of BodyBot, said this in a statement.

For AMMA Kitchen, the technology will also extend beyond normal restaurant service. BodyBot's robot is expected to be used at some of the venue's private functions and events, including weddings.

Seeing the technology operating in a real venue is much more important than simply demonstrating a robot at an exhibition. Businesses can see what it actually does, customers can interact with it and we learn more about how robotics can support hospitality teams in real working environments.

Dinu added that BodyBot is working with restaurants, hospitality venues and other businesses to make commercial service robotics more accessible through rental rather than requiring businesses to purchase the technology outright. The company provides installation and training alongside its robots and offers ongoing UK-based support after deployment.
