Arts and culture organisations in Birmingham can now apply for grants ranging from £10,000 to £50,000 as Birmingham City Council launches a new funding opportunity called Together on Culture on 29 September.

A total of £400,000 is available across three separate funding streams. The council has already invested more than £250,000 into arts and culture projects across the city this year.

Three funding streams available

The Local Cultural Improvement Fund will support constituted organisations to deliver creative projects based on existing local cultural plans that increase the visibility of arts and culture in local communities. £100,000 is available through this stream, with grants of up to £10,000.

The Local Cultural Event Fund will support locally delivered arts and cultural events using local spaces, with activities designed to bring people together in neighbourhoods and celebrate local creativity. This stream also has £100,000 available, with grants of up to £10,000.

The Magnets and Moonshots Open Call Fund will support high-profile cultural events and activities that attract visitors and raise Birmingham's profile. £200,000 is available through this stream, with grants between £10,000 and £50,000 awarded in proportion to the scale of the proposed event.

Cllr Deborah Harries, Cabinet Member for Culture, said the funding will help organisations bring Birmingham's "wealth of creativity and talent" alive in local communities while raising the profile of the city.

Birmingham City Council's Culture Development Service is hosting a webinar to provide applicants with further details about the application process.
